Hecho en Mexico Taxco Sterling Silver Ana Grape Leaf Brooch Pin
Vintage Taxco, Mexico sterling silver leaf pin signed, ANA, reminds us of the Maricela leaf pins shown in the Morrill & Beck book, Mexican Silver, and the Schiffer book, Silver Jewelry Designs although we are unable to identify the signature, "ANA". This beautiful Taxco sterling silver brooch measures a generous 2 x 1-3/4" and has a safety closure. In Excellent Condition, the pin is signed, "Hecho en Mexico" in a circle surrounding "925" for sterling silver. There is a second signature on the piece, "ANA" in stylized letters and "TAXCO STERLING" on the opposite side of the reverse of the pin. Since there is no eagle stamp, we believe this pin dates prior to 1948 and the design of the pin underscores our opinion. The workmanship on this lovely and well-designed and crafted sterling silver pin that weighs 10.7 grams of sterling silver. A wonderful find and a great wardrobe piece as well as an impressive, early Taxco sterling pin make this one Mexican sterling silver jewelry collectors will appreciate.
