Artist Annie Jacquemet biography
I was born and raised in the beautiful Loire Valley of France, and started drawing as a young girl, but without guidance, just for fun. It was not until I came to this country as an adult, that I developed a real taste for art. I went back to school, completed my education with a Masters degree
from U.C. Berkeley and became a psychotherapist.
I painted seriously only after I retired and have been fortunate to learn from Bob Chapla, Patsy Taylor and Gary Bergren. Having tried several media, I now prefer oil. Painting is my way of staying centered, of living fully in the present and of seeing the world with different eyes.
My portraits work reflects my connection with the emotions of people expressed facially and especially in ethnic studies. I enjoy painting landscapes but they must express a feeling of peace, rest and dare I say it, a “sense of kindness”.
I hope you will experience these feelings as you look at my work.
